independent integrity layers in every proof

How it works

Screenshots get disputed. Sealed evidence holds up.

“That screenshot was edited.” One sentence like that can sink your case. GetProofAnchor turns what you see online into a complete, sealed, tamper-evident record — and anyone can verify its integrity, even months later.

1

Capture

Paste a link, or click the browser extension on the page you’re looking at — including pages behind a login.

2

Seal

Every file gets a SHA-256 fingerprint; the whole set is sealed with a qualified eIDAS timestamp and anchored in the Bitcoin blockchain. You get a proof link and an Evidence ZIP.

3

Verify & submit in court

Built for legal proceedings: hand the evidence package to the court, your lawyer or the other side. Its integrity can be independently verified, including the detection of any modification of the sealed files.

Important: GetProofAnchor does not judge whether content is true — it proves what was published and when, and that nothing changed since.

Evidence ZIP + verification

Need to hand evidence to someone outside your account? Export an Evidence ZIP. It contains the captured files, their SHA-256 hashes, the eIDAS timestamp and the Bitcoin blockchain anchor — everything needed to verify integrity, even offline.

Turn what you see online into a proof you can use and verify. Capture public URLs or social media posts, export an Evidence ZIP with hashes, and show a clear integrity result: Match or Modified.

What’s inside

  • Screenshot
  • Page HTML and extracted text
  • Capture details (URL, time, method)
  • SHA-256 fingerprint of every file
  • Qualified eIDAS timestamp
  • Bitcoin anchor (OpenTimestamps)

Why it helps

  • One file to send or attach
  • Verifiable without us
  • Any later change is detected
  • Ready for disputes and audits

“Tamper-evident” means any change to a sealed file is detected during integrity verification.

Public proof link

A permanent link to share with your lawyer, the court or the other side — they can verify it themselves.

Evidence ZIP

A portable package with every captured file, SHA-256 fingerprints, the eIDAS timestamp and a Bitcoin blockchain anchor.

Free verifier

A clear answer in seconds: Match or Modified — with the details behind it.

See it in action

Capture, anchor, verify — in 30 seconds.

A real capture from start to finish: one click in the browser, the evidence sealed, a public proof link created and a Match / Modified result — in about half a minute.

What teams say

Lawyers, investigators, journalists and compliance teams use it to capture web pages as tamper-evident records, share Evidence ZIP packages and verify them whenever needed.

Quotes from our customers. Support: support@getproofanchor.com

“We stopped arguing about screenshots. The Evidence ZIP and verifier gave everyone a single source of truth.”
— Legal ops
“They said ‘you edited it.’ The Evidence ZIP integrity check shut that down.”
— Journalist
“Instead of screenshots in a folder, we shipped a verifiable package with hashes.”
— Agency owner

What you get

A public proof link, an Evidence ZIP, an eIDAS timestamp, a Bitcoin blockchain anchor and a free verifier.

Why it matters

No more arguing about whether a screenshot was edited. The verification settles it.

Behind a login, too

The browser extension captures what you see in groups, chats and accounts — on every paid plan.

FAQ

Practical answers about evidence capture, verification, timestamps, and integrity.

Basics

What is GetProofAnchor?

GetProofAnchor captures web pages as tamper-evident evidence. It creates a verifiable record of what was visible online at a specific time and lets others later verify whether the evidence still matches the original captured state.

How is this different from a screenshot?

A screenshot shows appearance, but by itself it does not reliably prove source, capture time, or later integrity. GetProofAnchor adds structured metadata, cryptographic hashes, timestamps, and verification artifacts so later changes become detectable.

What does “tamper-evident” mean?

Tamper-evident means changes are detectable. The captured files (screenshot, page.html, extracted text and the other sealed artefacts) are bound by their SHA-256 hashes into a qualified timestamp. If someone modifies any of them later, verification fails. The PDF report, proof.json and manifest.json are generated at download and are not sealed — the sealed files and the verification result are what count.

What is a public proof link?

Every capture gets a permanent link to its proof record. Share it with your lawyer, the court or the other side — anyone can open it and verify the evidence, or connect it to the exported Evidence ZIP. You decide whether a proof is public or private.

Evidence ZIP & verification

What is Evidence ZIP?

The Evidence ZIP is a portable evidence package. Depending on the capture, it can contain a screenshot, extracted content, page.html, proof metadata, a manifest with SHA-256 hashes, timestamp artifacts, and blockchain anchoring artifacts.

Why is the Evidence ZIP important?

It lets evidence leave the platform in a portable form while preserving later verifiability. Instead of sharing just an image, you can share a package that can be independently checked for integrity.

What is the manifest and why does it matter?

The manifest lists the files in the package together with their SHA-256 hashes. During verification, hashes are recalculated and compared, and the hashes of the captured files are also checked against the payload sealed by the qualified timestamp. The manifest itself is generated at download and is not sealed, so a changed captured file fails verification even if someone rewrites the manifest.

Can I verify the evidence offline?

Yes. The Evidence ZIP is designed for offline or independent verification workflows because it contains the files and integrity data needed to re-check whether the package still matches its original recorded state.

Hashes and timestamps

What is SHA-256 and why is it used?

SHA-256 is a cryptographic hash function. It creates a fingerprint of a file or payload. Even a very small change produces a different hash, which is why it is useful for integrity verification.

What happens if someone edits the evidence files?

If someone changes a sealed file — the screenshot, page.html, extracted text, network log or capture metadata — its hash no longer matches the payload sealed by the qualified timestamp and verification fails. The report, proof.json and manifest.json are not sealed: rely on the sealed files and the verification result, not on the report alone.

What does an eIDAS timestamp prove?

An eIDAS-qualified timestamp proves that a specific hash existed at a specific time, based on a trusted timestamping authority. It does not store the webpage itself; it timestamps the cryptographic fingerprint of the evidence payload.

What does OpenTimestamps / Bitcoin anchoring prove?

OpenTimestamps anchors a cryptographic hash into the Bitcoin blockchain. That provides public, independently checkable existed-before evidence for that hash. Because the anchor is tied to the hash, it also supports later integrity verification.

Can someone edit files and just recalculate the hashes?

Not for the sealed files. Their hashes are fixed inside the qualified timestamp, which cannot be re-signed without the timestamp authority's private key — recalculating them only creates a mismatch. The report, proof.json and manifest.json are not sealed, so always verify the package (gpa-verify or the Verify page) instead of trusting those files alone.

Legal and practical use

Can the captured evidence be used in court?

Yes, it can be submitted — the Evidence ZIP is prepared for use as evidence. A qualified eIDAS timestamp carries a statutory presumption of the accuracy of its date and time and of the integrity of the timestamped data, and electronic evidence may not be denied legal effect merely because it is electronic. Whether and how a specific piece of evidence is used is always decided by the court — which is why the package can be independently verified by the court and the opposing party alike.

Can I capture social media posts or logged-in content?

Yes. The browser extension captures what you actually see, including authenticated pages you lawfully have access to.

Can I prove that content was later deleted or changed?

Yes — if you captured it in time. The evidence shows what was published or visible at that moment, even if the page later changes or disappears.

What is chain of custody and why does it matter?

Chain of custody describes how digital evidence is captured, handled, and preserved over time. For credibility, it is essential to demonstrate content integrity, capture time, and traceability of the evidence. GetProofAnchor supports these principles using cryptographic hashes (SHA-256), file manifests, timestamps (including eIDAS), and blockchain anchoring, so that any modification of the sealed evidence files can be detected.
